Plessy Day 2018

 

 

Plessy Day 2018 presented a program celebrating the 150th anniversary of the 1868 Louisiana Constitution and well as the ratification of the 14th amendment. We had a wide range of scholars and legal experts who gave an in depth history followed by a lively discussion. The speakers in order of appearance: Historian, Archivist Pastor Brenda Billips Square, Dr. Sharlene Sinegal DeCuir, Associate professor at Xavier University, Phoebe Ferguson, co-founder of the Plessy and Ferguson Foundation, Keith Plessy co-founder of the Plessy and Ferguson Foundation, Dr. Charles Vincent, Professor of history at Southern University and A & M University, Mark Roudané, historian and speaker, Robin White Superintendent of the National Park Service, Little Rock, AR. Panel - Victor Jones, attorney, Dr. Raphael Cassimere, historian and Professor. Dr. Sharlene Senigal-DeCuir, Mary Howell, civil rights attorney in New Orleans.
